Washer pitching

-

ABOVE: David Bowker looks on as A.L. Black of Southaven displays his winning form at washer pitching during the annual Old Man’s Washer Pitching Tournament. For two decades, a group of men has gathered annually at Tommy Teer’s Horn Lake home for food, fellowship and a game of washers. Black teamed with another Southaven resident, Billy Knichel, to capture this year’s title. RIGHT: It’s not the World Series, but for the men at the tournament, there’s a lot riding on each toss. Black (left) looks to Milton Kuykendall for his ruling on points during a game. Knichel (center right) weighs in on the discussion while Merle Holliman awaits the ruling. The contest was moved to a paved area due to wet conditions.
