Haslam names 15 to higher ed boards

Several Memphians among governor’s choices

NASHVILLE — Gov. Bill Haslam appointed 13 new members and reappointe­d two others to Tennessee’s higher education governing boards Thursday.

New members of the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees:

Shannon Brown of Memphis, senior vice president/chief human resources and diversity officer for FedEx Express, as well as board chairman for United Way of the MidSouth and member of the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, the March of Dimes and the Lausanne Collegiate School.

Bill Evans of Memphis, faculty member at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its president and CEO from 2004 to 2014. He’s a board member of Launch Tennessee and U. S. Board of Pharmacy Specialist­s.

Rhedona Rose of Columbia, Tennessee, executive vice president of the Tennessee Farm Bureau.

Julia Wells of Jackson, vice president of marketing for Pictsweet Co.

R.J. Duncan of Nolensvill­e, student representa­tive, who is a junior at UT Knoxville.

David Golden, Knoxville, faculty representa­tive, UT Knoxville professor of food microbiolo­gy.

New members of the Tennessee Board of Regents:

Barbara Prescott of Memphis, executive director of PeopleFirs­t Partnershi­p and former member of the Memphis City School Board. Prescott is now board member of New Leaders for New Schools, Salvation Army, and Salvation Army’s Joan and Ray Kroc Community Center.

Leigh Shockey of Rossville, CEO and chairman of Drexel Chemical Co., as well as co-founder of Veritable Music, chairwoman of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee District Export Council.

Rebecca Reeves of Friendship, Tennessee, student representa­tive, who’s a junior at the University of Memphis, Lambuth Campus.

Dottye Webb of Milan, faculty representa­tive, who’s test center manager at Tennessee College of Applied Technology, Newbern.

New members of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission:

Bill Lee, CEO of Lee Co., Franklin.

Pam Martin, president of Cushion Employer Services, Nashville.

Alex Martin of Portland, student representa­tive, a sophomore at Tennessee Tech University.

Haslam also reappointe­d John Foy and D. Crawford Gallimore to the UT Board of Trustees.
