PUNISHMENTS CUT FOR TWO SCHOOLS

Upon review, the TSSAA has decided to reduce the postseason bans for the Hillcrest and Mitchell High football teams.

The schools, whose appeals were heard at the TSSAA board of control meeting Wednesday, will now be banned from postseason play for two years as a result of a fight between the two teams at the end of a game Oct. 23. The teams, who originally received a three-year ban, will be eligible for the postseason in 2016 after missing this year and next. In addition, each school’s total fine was reduced by $1,000, to $3,750.
