Yummy Bunny fun
Pancake breakfast, egg hunt at CMOM
As snowflakes mingled with flower petals on last Saturday, families hopped into the Children’s Museum of Memphis for an early start to their Easter festivities. A breakfast of pancakes, sausage, pastries and orange juice was served while little ones dressed in their Easter finery waited their turn to visit with the special guest of the day — the Easter Bunny.
Students from Briarcrest Christian School were on hand to help with a variety of activities, such as face painting, an egg roll and other games and crafts. Briarcrest senior John Ham- mond played a costumed role as the Easter Bunny.
There were also several egg hunts held in the Outdoor PlaySpace. Undeterred by the unseasonably cool weather, children raced around the artificial grass-covered space searching for pastel-colored plastic eggs containing candy. Additionally there was an egg hunt for adults that featured three Golden Eggs, each offering a family member
ship to CMOM as a prize.
In addition to all of the hopping and skipping that took place during the egg hunts, there were other reasons to jump for joy. Contests for the best decorated Easter basket and Easter hat continued the Eggs-travaganza. Prizes were CMOM family memberships for first-place winners and gift certificates to the Village Toymaker for second- and third-place winners.
“The weather had us scrambling at the last minute when the front lawn was deemed too muddy for the egg hunt,” said Carrie Roberts, director of public relations and marketing for the Children’s Museum of Memphis. “Fortunately, we had the alternative space afforded by our new Outdoor PlaySpace.”
Roberts said the egg hunts offered another opportunity to bring to life the mission of the Children’s Museum of Mem- phis — creating memorable learning experiences through the joy of play in hands-on exhibits and programs. “CMOM is a place where children can play to learn and where adults can learn to play again,” she said.
