-

A 42-year-old man has been charged after he was caught on a Sam’s Club security camera stealing security cameras from the store twice, police said.

Derrick Rogers has been charged with theft of property $1,000 to $10,000 for the incidents that occurred in July 2013.

According to the arrest affidavit, police responded to a shoplifting call at the store at 7475 Winchester. When officers arrived, they were told that a man entered the store and went to the electronics department, where he put a camera DVR security system in his backpack and then left the store. A week later, the man came back to the store and put another camera system in his backpack and left the store.

The store provided officers with a video of the thefts of the cameras that were valued at $549 each.

Police identified Rogers as a suspect. Investigators said in the affidavit that Rogers was also a suspect in several other thefts in Bartlett, Collierville, Memphis and Southaven.

Rogers remains in jail on a $140,000 bond. He is due in court Monday.
