Final negotiations are under way for some nationally known entertainers to open restaurants in Mud Island park, Sidney Shlenker said Thursday. And Memphis is still in the running for the National Basketball Association’s SuperSonics if the team leaves Seattle, he said. Shlenker, developer of The Great American Pyramid and the island park, made the disclosure as he outlined Pyramid and island plans at the Lumbermen’s Club luncheon at the Racquet Club. He would not identify the entertainers involved.

“Modern contour seats for a luxurious ride,” says the blurb. “You’ll be glad we paid more to get the best.” That and other plugs for Memphis Transit Authority’s 75 newest air-conditioned buses are included in a pamphlet, 100,000 copies of which MTA is going to give away to bus riders.
How good are the new bucket seats? A well-upholstered reporter yesterday went for a bus ride to give them the acid test. The trip, starting at Main and Jefferson, was short but instructive.
“Bus smells new,” a rider said to MTA driver George V. Gilliam.
“Brand new today. Got 85 miles on it,” Mr. Gilliam replied.
“Seats are kinda hard,” said the rider.
“This is the first time I’ve taken out one of the new buses. But one of the other drivers told me he took one out last week and several people said the seats were too hard,” Mr. Gilliam said.
