A woman and her son have been indicted on charges of adult neglect and reckless homicide in the death of a 68-year-old impaired woman in their care, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
Toni Stanley, 53, and her son, Brandon Allison, 30, are being held on $75,000 bond each on charges of adult abuse, neglect or exploitation and reckless homicide in the death of Linda Humes.
Humes, the mother of Stanley and grandmother of Allison, was in their care. She died in November 2012 in a hospital soon after being removed from her home in the 4700 block of Bluff Wood Cove in the Raleigh area.
Investigators said the home was unsanitary and in disrepair and that Humes was immobile and unable to care for herself. She died of injuries attributed to neglect of care and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s report.
