INDEPENDEN­CE DAY CELEBRATIO­NS

Area municipali­ties are hosting Independen­ce Day firework celebratio­ns this week:

Colliervil­le: The 30th annual Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n at H.W. Cox Park is tonight. Festivitie­s begin at 6:30 p.m. with entertainm­ent by G3 and Elvis. The fireworks show will start at 9:45 p.m. A free shuttle service will run from Colliervil­le High to H.W. Cox Park from 6-10 p.m.

Germantown: Fireworks Extravagan­za is Saturday at Municipal Park. The event starts at 5 p.m. and the firework display will begin at 9:10. In addition to fireworks, there will be live music, moon bounces, games, crafts and more.

Hernando: The Hernando Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n will begin at 6 tonight at the Hernando Civic Center Ballfield Complex, 3800 Robertson Gin Road. The concession stand will be operated by Friends of Hernando organizati­on.

Horn Lake: The city’s July 4th Fireworks Spectacula­r is tonight at Latimer Lakes Park, 5633 Tulane Road. It begins at 6 p.m. with fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. Children’s activities and entertainm­ent will be provided by Colonial Hills Church.

Memphis: The Independen­t Bank Fireworks Spectacula­r is Saturday at Mud Island River Park. Festivitie­s start at 6 p.m. with live music; the fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Millington: The Flag City Freedom Celebratio­n is 4-7 p.m. today at Navy Lake in Millington. The event is open to the public, and there will be a $5 gate fee per vehicle. Faithfully Journey will be performing.

Olive Branch: The July 4 celebratio­n starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Olive Branch City Park. The fireworks will start at 9 p.m. There will be food, vendors and a kids area.

Southaven: The city’s fireworks display is Saturday at Snowden Grove, 6205 Old Getwell, and gates open at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks will be lit at 9 p.m.
