DEVELOPMENTS

Cavs reportedly want Nets’ Johnson: Cleveland reportedly has Brooklyn’s Joe Johnson on its radar.

According to ESPN, the Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Johnson and are thinking about using Brendan Haywood’s contract as the main chip. Haywood is owed $10. 5 million next season, but his contract reportedly isn’t guaranteed if he’s waived before Aug. 1 , making it a valuable trade piece to help a team alleviate cap space.

That could benefit the Nets, who face paying the repeater tax next season if they don’t shed payroll.

Johnson will earn $24.8 million next season in the final year of his contract.

Lakers add 2: The Los Angeles Lakers say they plan to sign guard Lou Williams, last season’s Sixth Man of the Year, and forward Brandon Bass.

Williams averaged a career-high 1 5. 5 points and helped Toronto win a franchise-record 49 games in 2014-15, his lone season there. The Lakers have upgraded their guard rotation by adding Williams after drafting Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick.

Bass averaged 10. 6 points while playing all 82 games for Boston.

Pistons, Jackson agree: The Detroit Pistons and point guard Reggie Jackson have agreed to a fiveyear, $80 million contract extension, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Jackson was acquired at the trade deadline last season from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jackson averaged 17.6 points and 9.2 assists per game in 26 games for the Pistons.
