REDBIRDS 7, EXPRESS 3

The Redbirds defeated division rival Round Rock Express 7-3 behind a three-run homer by Jacob Wilson and seven strong innings from Tyler Lyons on Monday at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas.

The win snapped a three-game losing skid by the Redbirds and cut Round Rock’s first-place lead to four games in the PCL American Southern Division.

Lyons (8-5) struck out eight and allowed two runs over seven innings. In seven career starts since 2012, the left-hander is a combined 6-1 with a 1.10 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

Outfielder Tommy Pham drove in a pair and added two more hits. Outfielder Rafael Ortega recorded three hits and scored two runs from the leadoff spot.

Wilson, a Bartlett native and former Memphis Tiger, hit his 10th home run of the season as the Redbirds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first against Round Rock starter Russ Wolf. The first run of the evening came on a wild pitch before Wilson sent a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a three-run home run.
