City begins 2016 budget preparation

Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite and aldermen heard from city department heads on July 28 on their budget requests for the coming fiscal year as the city begins preparing for the new spending plan that will go into effect Oct. 1.

During a morning-long workshop, all city departments went over the requests they have made for fiscal 2016 in the very rough budget outline that the mayor and board have received already.

The formal public hearing on next year’s budget is set for Aug. 18.
