The City of Lakeland’s Parks & Recreation Department announces the construction of a permanent concert and event stage in International Harvester Park.

The stage should be completed soon and upcoming events will be announced via LakelandTN.gov and other outlets. The city is planning a soft opening soon and a full slate of events in 2016, including a summer concert series.

Lakeland’s new event stage is situated within a natural amphitheater that is a perfect setting for concerts, weddings and other events, with I.H. Park Lake providing a picturesque backdrop.

Lakeland commissioner Gene Torrey, who is a big proponent of Lakeland’s recreational activities and is active in volunteering at Lakeland parks and rec events, is excited for the addition.

“This will be the crown jewel of our parks system,” Torrey said. “It will become the main gathering place and entertainment center of the city for our residents.”

Lakeland City Manager, Jim Atkinson, added, “We’re excited for the completion of this event’s stage as we continue to expand our Parks & Recreation offerings. The addition of the stage will allow for future events such as concerts in the park, family movie night, and other community events. With the addition of Robbie Spencer, Lakeland’s new parks and recreation director … great things are happening.”
