Beyonce surprises with a new tour
No one holds on to a secret like Beyonce does.
After a weekend that included her eagerly awaited return to the Super Bowl stage and the surprise release of a new single called “Formation,” the pop diva announced Sunday she will hit the road this spring in a commercial that dropped right after her appearance alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
Beyonce will embark on her first solo world tour since 2013.
Billed as “The Formation World Tour,” the trek launches April 27 in Miami with 21 additional stadium dates throughout the U.S.
The singer last played stadiums alongside her husband on 2014’s “On the Run” tour.
Tickets for the U.S. dates will go on sale starting Feb. 16.
Paltrow faces stalker in court
Gwyneth Paltrow testified Monday in the trial of a man accused of stalking her, saying he sent her upsetting letters discussing his intention to marry her, her death, pornography and unsolicited gifts.
Dante Soiu is accused of stalking the Oscar-winning actress for 17 years, but the case focuses on the most recent batch of 66 messages he’s sent her between 2009 and 2015.
Paltrow was the first witness called and authenticated 48 of the letters, many of which contain religious messages and statements referencing Paltrow’s death.
The actress broke down briefly Monday when a prosecutor asked Paltrow whether she feared for her children’s safety as a result of Soiu’s missives.
“Yes,” Paltrow responded tearfully. “I’m scared because the communications completely defy logic ... I’ve been dealing with this for 17 years with the communications from this man.”
Stallone show
T he a n nu a l Oscar nominees luncheon is generally a time of lowstakes celebration, but this year amid discussions of Oscar diversity and a boycott, as well as dramatic changes to Academy membership, the Monday gathering was also one for reflection.
Sylvester Stallone, who became a focal point in the controversy for being the sole nominee from “Creed,” which had both a black director and lead actor, said he consulted with director Ryan Coogler as to whether or not he should attend at all.
“I said, ‘If you want me to go, I’ll go, if you don’t, I won’t,”’ Stallone told reporters before lunch. “He said, ‘Just go there and try to represent the film.’ ”
