Briarcrest’s Tristan Hube earns Eagle rank
Tristan Hube is the 69th Troop 48 Scout to earn the prestigious rank of Eagle, an honor achieved by fewer than four percent of Boy Scouts. His path to Eagle is a model of achievement in Scouting. He began his Scouting career as an 8-year-old Tiger Cub, advancing through the ranks of Bear, Wolf, Webelos I and Webelos II. Tristan received his Arrow of Light before crossing over into Boy Scouts.
The Briarcrest Christia n School junior has been a yeoman contributor to Troop 48, chartered by Faith Presbyterian Church in Germantown. He served terms as Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and two terms as Senior Patrol Leader. He currently serves Troop 48 as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
He also capitalized on the opportunity to attend National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and then gave back to Scouting by serving as a Chickasaw Council NYLT counselor. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Tristan was honored by selection to the Chickasaw Council Order of the Arrow. He also received the Troop 48 Charles H. Church Award given to a Scout who exemplifies the epitome of Scouting by modeling the Scout Oath and Scout Law in daily life.
Tristan’s all-time favorite Scouting experience was sailing and scuba diving while attending Sea Base in the Florida Keys. His favorite campout activity is backpacking, which Troop 48 does twice a year. His favorite merit badge was Wilderness Survival.
Tristan’s Eagle project involved building five rocket-box bat houses at Briarcrest. The houses support local bats, which are vital to controlling the area bug population.
Tristan’s activities extend well beyond Scouting. He is active in Briarcrest Key Club, Latin Club, Latin Honor Society, track and cross country. He is a member of St. Patrick Presbyterian Church in Collierville and is the son of Eric and Stephanie Hube of Collierville.
