44 shot in Chicago during weekend

CHICAGO — Forty-four people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, seven of them fatally, bringing the total number of gun violence victims in the city this year to more than 1,650.

At least 282 of them died of their wounds, nearly 100 more than the year before, according to data kept by the Chicago Tribune.
