Suspect arrested in pharmacy holdup
A suspect was in custody after a Monday morning robbery at the Bartlett Prescription Shop, where a man demanded all of the pharmacy’s Percocet.
Bartlett police said Patrick Owens was arrested shortly after the holdup at the pharmacy near Stage and Shelby. No one was injured in the robbery.
According to police, officers were sent to the business at 5675 Stage Road, just inside the suburb’s western city limits about 9:16 a.m., but the suspect was already gone.
When the robber fled from the store, he tried unsuccessfully to steal an employee’s car. He then ran to a wooded area near Shelby and Stage. A resident on Marbry Street — one street west of Shelby — called police dispatchers to report finding a bag that a man dropped as he walked from behind a fence.
A short time later, police found a man fitting the robber’s description at McCulley and Marbry. The resident identified the man as the one who dropped the bag. The bag contained a revolver, a mask, gloves and Percocet pills, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
