Call for action on guns

The worst mass shooting in U.S. history was accomplished with an AR-15, a semiautomatic weapon originally designed for use by the army.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, this was the same weapon that was also used in the horrific murders at Sandy Hook Elementary, San Bernardino and the movie theater in Aurora.

It is far past time that we demand action from our lawmakers and start working diligently toward serious gun control and the removal of militarygrade weaponry from our streets.

I pray that we soon see an end to the seemingly endless gun violence that plagues our country and the bigotry, fear and hate that are so often at its root cause.
