3,000 jobs to fill for holiday
Radial Inc. seeking seasonal workers
A Memphis warehouse says it will hire up to 3,000 seasonal workers this fall to meet holiday demand.
Radial Inc. said hiring will begin immediately and pick up steam in September as it prepares for a 10-fold increase in demand related to electronic commerce.
Memphis distribution centers typically ramp up hiring for the holiday shopping season, though bringing aboard 3,000 people would be one of the larger job additions by any single company.
Radial was formed earlier this year by a combination of eBay Enterprise and Innotrac. EBay Enterprise was formerly eBay Inc.’s enterprise services unit that helped build and run online storefronts for retailers. Innotrac was an operator of distribution centers and call centers for online retail.
Last year, the warehouse added 2,000 workers during the seasonal peak.
Radial, based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, has about 7,000 employees globally but says it typically adds more than 20,000 seasonal workers to help with peak season demand each year.
The Memphis hires will work out of a 900,000-squarefoot warehouse at 5461 Davidson Road, where Innotrac opened an online distribution center for Target last year. Target projected Innotrac would hire 462 workers to handle its business at the warehouse.
