Officials urge early online registration
Program allows for quicker registration
DeSoto County school officials are urging parents to use the system’s online registration program to enroll students before the Aug. 3 start of classes.
The InfoSnap program allows parents to enter most required registration information online after creating an account. Students still must provide two proofs of residency, which can be submitted at the school or, for new students, at administrative offices in Hernando.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to complete the registration process now and not wait until school starts,” school system spokeswoman Melissa Green said.
The registration program is the same one used by the school system since 2012, and it is pre-populated with most information for returning students. Green said parents and guardians should have received an InfoSnap code in the mail, which can be used to complete the process from home.
Anyone without computer access or unable to complete the registration process on their own can come to administrative offices at 5 E. South Street in Hernando, where personnel will be available to assist.
Teachers return Aug. 1 at the school system’s 42 schools countywide. With more than 33,000 students, DeSoto County Schools is Mississippi’s largest public school system.
The calendar for the 2016-17 school year includes a Christmas break of Dec. 19-Jan. 2, and the final day of classes for students will be May 22.
