Collision severs inmate’s leg
An inmate’s leg was cut in half when he was standing behind a stopped garbage truck that was hit by a car.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said the 21-yearold inmate was wearing a bright orange jumpsuit and helping collect garbage Tuesday morning near the town of Shannon. He was standing behind the truck when a mid-sized passenger vehicle failed to stop.
Johnson said the crash severed the inmate’s leg around his knee.
