Germantown golfer falls in Senior Amateur

Germantown golfer lost to of Taylorsville, Illinois, 1 up on Wednesday in the U.S. Senior Amateur semifinals at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis.

Against Jackson, Ryan won the 14th to take a 2-up lead, lost the 15th with a bogey and matched Jackson with a par-birdie-par finish to close the match.

Jackson beat of Los Angeles in 19 holes to reach the semifinals.

Jackson tied McClure with a 45-foot birdie putt on No. 17 and said on the USGA.org website: “I was very fortunate. You just try to stay in the hole and hit a putt with good speed on it. That’s all I was really trying to do — just trying to get it to the 18th hole.”

McClure told the website: “I’ve played with him off and on over the years. He’s hard to beat in these USGA championships.”
