Auto show features new models, race car
Going to the auto show? The Memphis International Auto Show will open Thursday with an anticancer fundraiser followed Friday, Saturday and Sunday by the public event displaying new cars and trucks in the Memphis Cook Convention Center.
Traditionally staged in January, the show typically draws one of the convention center’s biggest crowds. This year, the Greater Memphis Auto Dealers Association took over the show and changed the event to October.
Among the expected highlights: NASCAR driver Kyle Busch’s No. 18 race car, Subaru’s pre-production 2017 Impreza, Toyota’s 2017 Prius electric car, Volvo’s 2017 S90 and DuPont Registry Live luxury vehicles, including a 2016 Lamborghini Huracan. According to the dealers association, more than 100 new models will be displayed in the convention hall.
Visitors may also test drive new models from Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Toyota at the Toyota Drive Center. A Toyota representative will be in the passenger seat for test drives.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day except for Sunday’s 5 p.m. close. Tickets cost $8 for adults.
