Through Jan. 29: Tree Recycling at The Yard: The Yard accepts Christmas trees, free of charge, to be recycled into reusable materials. The Yard will donate $5 for every tree when you mention Memphis Botanic Garden. The Yard, 1735 Thomas Road, just off Covington Pike and Pleasant View, is a recycling and composting facility. Jan. 14: Decorative Arts Trust Talk, Duncan Phyfe and His World: Lecture and Master Class with Matthew Thurlow, 10:30 a.m. at Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in Overton Park. Lecture included with museum admission. In honor of the gifts by Tina McWhorter and her late husband, John, renowned scholar Matthew Thurlow discusses America’s most famous cabinetmak­er and furniture made in New York during the Federal Period.
