Concerns about Cherry’s fall

Germantown citizens are still reeling from a recent triple-whammy:

1) Principal Kyle Cherry of Houston High was caught intoxicated, putting a ladder up to a window of a Houston High teacher;

2) Mr. Cherry was allowed to remain on the job for nine months with only a reprimand that required him to selfreport similar incidents;

3) This incident was never revealed publicly until journalists began investigating after Mr. Cherry abruptly resigned on April 20.

This incident has raised many troubling questions: namely, which public officials, from the superintendent to the mayor to the city administrator, knew about this problem and did nothing to publicly expose or rectify it?

It is time for a public investigation to determine who was negligent or worse, and new oversight policies adopted to prevent similar incidents

Kudos to Cohen’s staff

Recently, I had an issue with my passport, which I needed for a May travel date. I called U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen’s Memphis office for help.

The service I received from Beanie Self was extraordinary. She assisted me every step of the way; she was genuinely concerned about my problem.

As Memphians, we are very fortunate to have Congressman Cohen as our representative and to have his excellent staff at our service.
