No, it’s not a new craft store. The restaurant and sports bar at 5101 Sanderlin is still a restaurant and sports bar. It just has a new name: Craft Republic.

The name change is part of a rebranding of Fox and Hound locations that eventually will include changes to the menu and interior.

“The company has created a plan for the Craft Republic concept that will eventually be the standard for all Fox and Hounds,” district manager Ronna Entezari said. “This doesn’t necessarily mean that the names will all change; however, there is a possibility.”

Memphis is the second location to change its name, following Albuquerque, New Mexico. Locations in Kansas and Ohio will change their names soon, according to the Craft Republic website.

“Besides the name change and a few new servers, the restaurant has not changed,” said Morgan Bryant Raines, Craft Republic’s event coordinator. “We will be working in changes slowly, but keeping the good stuff that people loved about Fox and Hound. We want to bring in more fun activities for our guests.”

Entezari said the next phase of changes will be the menu, followed by some interior changes.

“The menu will mostly be American fare with an emphasis on shareable items,” Entezari said.

Memphians and frequent customers have expressed mixed opinions about the new name.

“So far, the name change has received mixed reviews; some love it and some are confused by it,” Raines said.

“Some associate ‘Craft’ with Michaels or Hobby Lobby, and some understand that ‘Craft’ means ‘Craft Burgers and Beer.’ “
