Who is Sherra Wright’s new lawyer Juni Ganguli?

Juni Ganguli, Sherra Wright’s newly court-appointed attorney, has represente­d several high-profile defendants in his career, including an accused cop killer and a man accused in connection with the death of a 7-year-old girl killed in an alleged revenge shooting.

Ganguli was appointed by Criminal Court Judge Lee Coffee Wednesday to represent Sherra Wright in her murder trial after her attorneys, Steve Farese Jr. and Blake Ballin, withdrew from her case citing a deteriorat­ing relationsh­ip with their now former client.

Sherra Wright and co-defendant Billy Ray Turner are charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit firstdegre­e murder and attempted first-degree murder in the 2010 death of her exhusband and NBA Wright.

Turner is represente­d by attorney star Lorenzen John Keith Perry.

Ganguli along with his co-counsel Laurie Hall will now be the legal team for Sherra Wright.

Here are some other high-profile Ganguli cases:

1. Tremaine Wilbourn: Wilbourn was charged in the 2015 killing of Memphis police Officer Sean Bolton. In 2017, Wilbourn was sentenced to 25 years and two days in a carjacking he committed on the same day the officer was killed.

Wilbourn’s first-degree murder case in Bolton’s Aug. 1, 2015, slaying is pending.

Last year, Ganguli and attorney Lauren Pasley appeared in court to ask that Shelby County deputies remove a stun cuff, an electronic shock device that had been placed on Wilbourn.

Jordan Clayton:Clayton

2. was one of three men convicted last year on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 7-year-old Kirsten Williams. Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2015 as she played outside near her home.

Clayton is serving a life sentence plus an additional 46 years.

3. was convicted in 2016 in the fatal 2014 shooting of Prospect Park Baptist Church pastor Don Smith. Reed is serving a life sentence.

4. was convicted of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of nurse David Santucci in downtown Memphis in 2013. Patterson was sentenced to life in prison in 2016.

Ganguli has been in private practice since 1998 and is certified as a criminal trial specialist, according to his profile on his website.
