Howard Wright, 31, a label executive for Memphis rapper Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group was sentenced from 10 to 14 years in prison on Sept. 20 by Judge Carla N. Archie, according to the Mecklenburg District Attorney’s Office.

Wright is just one of the men convicted of a shooting that occurred two years ago on Feb. 26 outside of the Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown. Two vehicles and the lobby of the hotel were hit by gunfire, the district attorney’s office said.

The shooting stems from the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s annual tournament held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

An off-duty G4S officer saw suspects running from the direction of the gunshots and another suspect get inside of a silver Nissan sedan, according to the district attorney’s office.

After officers stopped the vehicle near a parking deck on West 5th street, Wright fled the car and left behind two firearms the district attorney’s office said.

Wright was captured by officers after a foot chase.

Another man, Kevin Thompson, 21, was arrested by officers in the driver’s seat of the car.

According to multiple media reports, Wright has been said to have been targeting rapper Young Dolph, another Memphis native with a documented rap feud with Yo Gotti, during that weekend.

Wright received five counts of discharging a firearm to occupied property, eight counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and several other charges.
