Briarcrest offensive tackle Omari Thomas will head south to visit LSU on Saturday for the Tigers' game with No. 2 Georgia.

Then next week he's scheduled to visit Tennessee when the Vols host No. 1 Alabama.

It's been a big week already because the Saints' standout picked up his latest offer from Penn State on Thursday.

"They let me know how I was a big prospect for them. I actually like Penn State. I like what they do," said Thomas. "I like the way they play ball, so I’m going to try my best to get down there and go see a game or something like that."

Thomas has already visited Ole Miss this season.

Other schools that have offered Thomas include Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida among others. Thomas, who is still a junior, says that he is looking forward to taking his time with his decision.

"I plan on making my decision my senior year in February, so I’m not in a rush right now.," said Thomas. "But I do plan on probably releasing a top 10 after this season or at the beginning of spring ball."

Thomas, who is ranked by 247Sports as the state's No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2020, said that he is enjoying the recruiting process. So much so that he called it a blessing.

"It’s fun. It’s real fun," said Thomas. "Just being able to meet people. New people that I wouldn’t even think that I would meet. It’s all blessings for me."

Briarcrest (5-3, 0-2 DII-AAA) was shut out 38-0 Friday night by Memphis University School (7-0, 2-0). Despite the tough loss, Thomas was able to remain upbeat. He couldn't choose when asked what was the coolest part of being a nationally sought-after recruit.

“It’s really all cool, Just being out here on Friday nights, win or lose," said Thomas. "Just being able to play and be with my family. Just being able to put on a show. I try my best to give the fans what they want to see.”
