Grizzlies show some flaws

- Jason Munz Memphis Commercial Appeal USA TODAY NETWORK - TENNESSEE

The Grizzlies' season-opening loss to the Pacers exposed quite a few warts. Atop the list: rebounding. Memphis point guard Mike Conley contends the team's mindset contributed to its woes on the boards. The Grizzlies were out-rebounded 57-28 by Indiana. Their 28 rebounds are nine fewer than the other 25 teams that played their season opener on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“We came in the game as a team with not the right mindset as far as, you know, playing against a playoff level team and playing with that playoff energy they were playing with," Conley said. "It was like we were playing a preseason game and they were playing the regular season, midseason game, and we have to match that intensity. We didn’t come with that early."

"We’re just trying to go out there and play, get back to what we do, understand that we can’t give up offensive rebounds like we were doing. We can’t get out-rebounded like that. We’ve got to want it more."

Atlanta's 24 turnovers against the Knicks were the most of any team during the opening two days of the season.
