Through Dec. 7: The Memphis Area Master Gardeners 2019 Gardening in Shelby County calendar: Full of resources for both the novice weekend gardener and the professional horticulturist. Calendar features horticultural articles, listings of all public horticultural events with contact information as well as a monthly “To Do” feature outlining planting, lawn care, pruning, fertilization and general tips to help organize gardening tasks. Dec. 2: Holiday Open House: Noon-4 p.m. at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, 374 Metal Museum Drive. All are welcome to enjoy free museum admission and holiday-themed treats. Drop by to design your own cookie cutter, make an ornament from cast pewter and browse unique handcrafted gifts in the Museum Store. Dec. 8: Herbal Work Study: Seeds: 8:15-11:30 a.m. at Memphis Botanic Garden. Three hours spent cleaning seeds. Normally we would have a separate time for instruction, but instruction will be built into the entire three hours for this event. As we clean the seeds, we will learn about seed saving and packaging with a goodly smattering of general herb information.
