Minaj pulls out of BET concert after network’s tweet
Ford knocks Trump, others who ‘denigrate science’
Harrison Ford offered an emphatic plea Tuesday for protecting the world’s oceans, calling out President Donald Trump and others who “deny or denigrate science.”
The 76-year-old actor, best known for his roles in “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” stressed the importance of acknowledging the effects of climate change on the world in a speech on the closing day of the World Government Summit in Dubai. Though never saying Trump’s name, he clearly targeted the American president within the opening moments of his remarks.
“Around the world, elements of leadership – including in my own country – to preserve their state and the status quo, deny or denigrate science,”
Nicki Minaj says she’s canceling her appearance at the BET Experience Concert after the network tweeted about her and fellow rapper Cardi B.
Minaj said Monday on social media that she won’t perform at the concert or BET Awards. It comes after BET tweeted Sunday that Minaj was “being dragged by her lacefront” after Cardi B’s Grammy win for best rap album.
In a statement, BET apologized to Minaj for the “hurt, disappointment and confusion that this post has caused.” The network says it will conduct an internal investigation. The tweet has been deleted.
