Durant stays coy on Knicks speculation

- Heather Tucker USA TODAY

CHARLOTTE – Kevin Durant played coy with the media again during Saturday’s NBA All-star Game availability, saying he didn’t pay attention to trades or free agency and was just focusing on basketball.

Okay, so what about your most memorable moment with MJ?

“Yeah, let’s go have dinner, we’ll talk about all of them. I can’t even name one, there’s a lot of them, too many to name.”

His best move on the court? “I don’t know, go check Youtube and tell me tomorrow.”

But one trade – Kristaps Porzingis’ move from New York to Dallas – was something the Golden State Warriors forward was happy to talk about.

“I’m glad Porzingis is in a better spot, for him, in Dallas,” Durant said. “And I look forward to seeing him and Luka (Doncic) playing together for years to come.”

There has been speculation that the Knicks – who could have as much as $76 million in salary cap space available this summer – will be looking to nab Durant.

And he has praised Knicks rookie Kevin Knox, who put on an entertaining performance in Friday’s Rising Stars Game.

Durant, who was the first to give Porzingis the moniker “The Unicorn,” and the 23-year-old Latvian are friends. So surely they have talked about Durant’s next move, right? Durant was quick to throw water on that idea.

The 30-year-old Durant has not said whether he plans to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors, who are vying for a third consecutive NBA title, or test the free agent market once again.

“I play basketball for the Warriors and my main concern is to be the best basketball player I can be every day,” he said. “I have no concern about trade rumors or transactions throughout the season with other teams. That has nothing to do with me.”

Stay tuned.
