Collierville High principal leaving
Collierville High School principal Chip Blanchard will be leaving his post to take the top job at a private school in Rossville, Tennessee.
Rossville Christian Academy announced Tuesday that Blanchard would be “taking over the reins” as the academy’s head of school. The departure leaves Collierville Schools with two major vacancies. Superintendent John Aitken announced his retirement in February.
Blanchard has been principal of Collierville High since 2014 and before that had been principal of Collierville Middle School, vice principal of Bartlett High School and assistant principal of Bolton High School.
Blanchard said he was looking forward to the new gig.
“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a student-focused culture,” he said. “I am enthusiastic and eager to begin working with the staff to support all of the students and to see RCA grow to its full potential.”
He also posted about the job change on social media Tuesday, saying he was grateful for the time he spent at Collierville High and would “sincerely miss” the students and faculty at the school. The school’s Twitter account shared the post.
According to information provided by the school, Rossville Christian Academy is a small, private school with students ranging from junior kindergarten to 12th grade. The school has less than 300 students, compared to the about 2,800 students who attend Collierville High School.
“We look forward to the continuation of successes that Rossville Christian Academy has posted over the last 50 years, and to many new successes that will surely follow with Blanchard’s leadership,” said Jeff Gentry said, Rossville Christian Academy school board chairman.
