25 years ago — 1994 Los Angeles – Prosecutors opened their murder case against O.J. Simpson in a contentious preliminary hearing Thursday, as his lawyers sought to suppress a bloodstained glove and other evidence police found at his house a few hours after his ex-wife and a male friend were stabbed to death. Police reported in an affidavit finding the glove, which they said closely matched a glove discovered outside the condominium 2 miles away where Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were killed on June 12. They also found bloodstains on Simpson’s driveway and a nearby curb, in his master bedroom and bathroom, and on the driver’s door and seat, floor, steering wheel and instrument panel of his Ford Bronco. 50 years ago — 1969 A $12 million Whitehaven apartment development of more than 1,000 units, the largest in the history of Shelby County, is planned on 57 acres at the southeast corner of Millbranch and Winchester west of Memphis International Airport.
