Halloween in Memphis Here’s your guide to the spooky season

Spooky season is upon us, and with it comes a variety of scary movie screenings, haunted houses, fall festivals and trick-or-treating events. Here's a selection of Halloween events happening in Shelby and Desoto counties to get you in the holiday spirit.
Arlington
Arlington United Methodist Church will host a "trunk or treat" from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the church, 6145 Quintard St. Check Arlington United Methodist's Facebook event page for details.
Bartlett
Singleton Community Center will put on a variety of spooky events, starting with a haunted house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25. Admission is $1 per person, cash only. The community center will also host a Halloween carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25. Admission is $1 for adults, cash only. Children 12 and under can celebrate for free.
The Bartlett Recreation Center will hold a Halloween Family Fun Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26. Registration for the event takes place until the 26th. Advance tickets are $3 per child for recreation center members and $5 for nonmembers. Day-of tickets are $5 per child for members and $7 for non-members.
Collierville
You can get in the Halloween spirit early with trick-or-treating at the Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library at 501 Poplar View Parkway from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 20. No registration is required and costumes — of course — are encouraged.
The Junior Auxiliary of Collierville is once again hosting its "Scare on the Square" event with the town of Collierville and Main Street Collierville. The event will include crafts, games, food, face painting and other family-friendly activities, all out on the town square park, 96 N. Center St. The event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25.
Germantown
A whole host of Halloween-related activities are lined up in Germantown during the last two weeks of October. Scary movie fans can enjoy an Oct. 18 screening of "A Quiet Place" at the Bobby Lanier Farm Park, 2660 Cross Country Drive. The screening is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and costumes are encouraged. S'mores making will commence at 6 p.m. with the movie starting at 6:50. The farm park will also host a pumpkin painting session at 10 a.m. Oct. 24. Supplies are included, but registration is required and can be completed on the city's website.
Halloween fans will have their pick of spooky activities the weekend before the holiday. Germantown Community Library will host a Halloween carnival and an adults-only murder mystery party, both on Oct. 26. The familyfriendly carnival will feature crafts, games and a costume contest and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees of the murder mystery party at 2 p.m. — pre-registration is required, call 901757-7273 — join together "to solve a mind-boggling post-apocalyptic murder mystery during this group game," according to Germantown communications manager Jessica Comas. Both are held at the library, 1925 Exeter Road.
A fall festival will also be held on Oct. 26, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the farm park. The festival will include haunted trails ($4 per person), a petting zoo, live music and more.
A "trunk or treat" event will be held in the library parking lot from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Anyone can attend, but sign-up is required for those who want to hand out candy.
Hernando
Kids under 12 can enjoy the Halloween off the Square celebration at the Desoto County Administration Building parking lot, 2535 U.S. 51 South on Oct. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. Make sure to come in costume and bring a candy bucket for trunk-or-treating.
Colonial Hills Church — Hernando is hosting the Hernando Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 27. The free community event will include candy, food trucks, inflatables and face painting at the church, 1225 Monteith Ave.
Memphis
If creepy circus is more your speed, check out the Paranormal Cirque by Cirque Italia, which will be fascinating — or frightening, depending on how you feel about clowns and chainsaws — customers under the big top outside Wolfchase Galleria, 2760 N. Germantown Parkway. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18, 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20. The show has content and language not intended for ages under 17. Those who would like to add some seasonal beverages to their Halloween festivities can check out "Boo 'n Brew" at Oak Court Mall. The event, sponsored by Dave and Buster's and Ghost River Brewing Company, will feature a pumpkin patch, music, food trucks, giveaways and some Ghost River brews. The family-friendly event will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at 4465 Poplar Ave.
The Crime Victims & Rape Crisis Center is hosting its "Respect2onect" event themed “Relationships Don't Have to be Scary” on Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1060 Madison Ave. There will be music, activities, games, trick-or-treat tables and educational opportunities about healthy relationships and violence prevention.
The Memphis Zoo will host its annual "Zoo Boo," sponsored by Le Bonheur, over seven nights. The family-friendly event will have mazes, hayrides, candy, magic shows and more. Advance tickets are $10 for zoo members and $13 for non-members; day-of tickets are $12 for members and $15 for non-members. Children 23 months and under get in for free.
