Months after becoming a Yogasix franchisee, New York developer Tom Intrator said he has a spot on South Main Street for his first location.

The yoga studio will open inside his building at 18 S. Main St., one of nine properties he owns in the South Main neighborhood. With construction already underway, 18 S. Main St. was Intrator’s entry into Downtown Memphis and is the namesake for his development company, 18 Main, that is also planning a $1.1 billion project in the Pinch District.

Joining Yogasix inside its building will be a restaurant and a speakeasy opened in partnership with Dream Hotels.

“We are doing another project with Dream where they are going to create a restaurant (food and beverage) venue on the ground floor as well as a speakeasy on the lower level,” Intrator said, adding that while the coronavirus pandemic may cause delays as it prevents safe air travel, the plan will continue.

Intrator is also planning to build a 178-room hotel with Dream Hotels at 122 S. Main St. above what is currently Royal Furniture’s Downtown store.

The upper levels of 18 S. Main will either house Intrator’s own Memphis office or be leased to another company in need of Downtown office space.

For now, Intrator said he is working with Dream Hotels on the design concept for the restaurant and speakeasy. So far, it appears that any delay in the design portion of the project will be minimal, Intrator said.
