Buff City Soap to move headquarters to Dallas

- Desiree Stennett Memphis Commercial Appeal USA TODAY NETWORK – TENNESSEE

After getting its start as the Bartlett Soap Co. in 2013, Buff City Soap will soon become a Dallas-based company, it confirmed Wednesday.

“The HQ move to Dallas is ongoing, and they’re still looking into what parts will be operating in Memphis,” a company spokesperson said. “Of course, there will still be Buff City Soap retail locations in Memphis.” The move was first reported in the Memphis Business Journal. Buff City Soap has 35 locations in 11 states. It sells plant-based soaps and other body care and cleaning products.

In the past year, the company has seen several major changes. Its founder, Brad Kellum, moved into a product development role and the company hired new CEO Justin Delaney. Delaney started Menguin, an online tuxedo rental company that he sold to Generation Tux in 2017. Other members of the newly formed executive team include April Willers, a former executive at Michael’s crafts store, and Mike Barhydt, former

STORY STOCKS executive at Jamba Juice.

Rounding out the executive board is Brandon Powers, a tech entrepreneur, and Chad Brizendine, a former marketing executive and entrepreneur.

Last year, Kellum said his goal for Buff City Soap was to make the company so ubiquitous that it would become “the Starbucks of soap.”
