Tory Burch, Lululemon plan Memphis-area stores
New store will be across from Central Exchange
A new Lululemon Athletica location is expected to open in Midtown near Central Avenue and Cooper Street within the next two months, Jonathan Aur, of Boyle Investment Co., said Thursday.
The athletic apparel company signed a year-long lease at 2129 Central Ave.
Aur, who represented the owner of the building, said it is common for Lululemon to sign short-term leases to test out an area before committing to a longer lease. The space is about 5,500 square feet.
“It’s obviously a very busy corner with really high traffic counts surrounded by strong demographics, dense neighborhoods, easy access to all parts of the area and, most importantly, what they’re really excited about is the cotenantcy in the area.”
The new store would be across the street from the Central Exchange shopping center, which is anchored by Urban
Outfitters.
Railgarten, which can draw massive crowds to the area is also close by.
The Vancouver-based company has one other area store in Germantown’s outdoor shopping mall Saddle Creek.
Also underway is a new Tory Burch store planned for Tanger Outlets in Southaven.
Neither Tory Burch nor Tanger would confirm when the new location will open but it is listed as “coming soon” on Tanger’s website.
The new store would open between the Samsonite Factory Outlet and Wilsons Leather.
This would be the first Tory Burch store in the Memphis metro area. It has two other Tennessee stores, one in Nashville and another at the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville.
Started in 2004 in New York, Tory Burch sells women’s clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods.
