Moussa Cisse of Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis tweeted that he is reclassifying to the Class of 2020 and that his college decision is coming “real soon.”

“I’m happy for him. I wish him nothing but the best,” Lausanne coach Marvis Davis said. “The year we experienced together made history and I’m excited for this new chapter in his life.”

Cisse told ESPN he will earn his high school diploma after finishing the last two core classes needed to qualify.

“He said he wanted to wait until school got out and see what his grades were like and all that before they made their decision,” Davis said. “Which is why when people asked me I felt like he was going to come back because he was doing everything to come back. But he said last minute he and his family talked and they had been talking about it all year and that he wanted to pursue it. With all that was going on he felt that this was the best opportunity for him.”

The 6-foot-11 center was ranked the No. 8 prospect in the nation and No. 1 in Tennessee for the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Cisse said his final six schools are Memphis, Kentucky, LSU, Florida State, Georgetown, and Georgia.

His only official visit was to Florida State on Jan. 24.

He has taken unofficial visits to Memphis and Kentucky.

“In terms of my college decision, I’m looking for a good explanation of how I am going to be used,” Cisse told ESPN. “I’m not worried about starting, or minutes. If I work hard that will take care of itself. I’ve been watching a lot of film. The situation with COVID made my college recruiting a little more difficult, but I’ve adjusted to the situation and will make the best decision for my future.”

The Guinea native led Lausanne to a state title in his only season there after transferring from New York’s Christ the King Regional. He was named MVP of the DII-A state title game and won the DII-A Mr. Basketball award. He averaged 21.3 points, 14 rebounds and 8.6 blocks.

“College and high school are very different. Reclassifying is going to help me playing against better competition,” Cisse said.

“I’ve been playing in open gyms in Memphis against top college players like James Wiseman and Precious Achiuwa and saw that I can compete against them. Playing against older and more experienced players in college will speed up my development.”
