Here are the new dates for Orpheum’s Broadway Season
Touring productions of “Hamilton,” “Cats,” and “Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville” are among the stage shows that have been rescheduled by the Orpheum Theatre Group.
In a letter sent to ticketholders May 29, Orpheum Theatre Group President and CEO Brett Batterson announced a revised schedule for the venue’s 202021 Broadway Season and an update regarding the remaining 2019-20 performance.
“Come From Away,” the final show in the 2019-20 season has been moved to Oct. 5-10, 2021. Meantime, the 2020-21 season will kick off in December with “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Seven more shows — including “Hamilton,” “Disney’s The Lion King” and “Mean Girls” — will follow starting in February 2021.
In his letter, Batterson noted that much has changed since the Broadway Season schedule was unveiled in early
March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I hope you agree with me that given all we have learned since the announcement; this new schedule allows us a higher level of comfort that these magnificent productions will entertain and enlighten us this coming season,” Batterson
wrote.
Batterson also noted that the changes to the Broadway Season schedule will not affect any other concerts or other events planned for the Orpheum or Halloran Centre — at least as of now.
“We will continue to follow local government directives in our decisionmaking, as well as the recommendations of the CDC and Shelby County Health Department,” added Batterson. “We hope to be able to host concerts and events this fall.”
