Report: Grizzlies to re-sign Tolliver
Anthony Tolliver will remain with the Grizzlies after signing what is sure to be the longest 10-day contract in NBA history.
Marc Stein of The New York Times reported Tolliver and the Grizzlies have verbally agreed to a new contract that can be signed once the league's transaction window begins Tuesday. Tolliver is eligible for a prorated veteran's minimum contract for the remainder of the season
Tolliver, who had stints this season with the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings, signed with the Grizzlies on March 2, and his contract was set to expire before the NBA suspended its season March 11 after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.
Once the NBA suspended transactions, Tolliver remained a member of the Grizzlies for the past three months, turning a short-term deal into an inadvertent longer one. Tolliver, who shot 41.2% on 3-pointers in five games with the Grizzlies, fills the team's final roster spot.
The weeklong transaction window, which ends June 30, allows NBA teams to sign or waive players and also convert two-way contracts into deals for the remainder of the season. Both John Konchar and Yuta Watanabe are on two-way deals with the Grizzlies.
With Jaren Jackson Jr., Justise Winslow and Brandon Clarke all returning from injuries, the Grizzlies will be at nearly full strength when the season resumes July 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando.
