Joe Pirani

-

MARION, AR - Joe Pirani, 88, of Marion, Arkansas, slipped away quietly, early Sunday morning, on December 27, 2020. He was born in Marion, Arkansas, on December 12, 1932, to Antonio and Ersilia Pirani.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera Mccain Pirani; his son Joe David Pirani; his three sisters, Lena, Linda, and Mary; and his three brothers, Adolph, Paul, and Dino. Joe was the youngest and last surviving child of seven children and their spouses. Joe, and his siblings, were considered to be hardworking families of a great generation.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Dennis Pirani; his two granddaughters, Turner and Talyn Pirani; and his loving companion, Diane Fitch. “Uncle Joe” had dozens of nieces and nephews and was often thought of as their favorite.

Joe was a lifelong farmer and was well respected by all who knew him. He mainly farmed the land around Mound City, earning the loyal trust of all of the land owners, with the exception of one. Joe was an excellent steward of the land, and would always leave the land in better shape than when he found it.

Joe was known for his witty comments and one-liners. If you asked him how he was doing, he would often reply with either “...hanging around like old rusty barbed wire” or, “...keep coming around like a bad dream.” It has been said that Joe was an amicable man, but if you ever did have a disagreement with him, it was most likely because you had it coming.

Joe’s motto was “Get up early and do something positive.” He will surely be missed. The immediate family will be holding a private graveside service and requests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
