MEMPHIS - Anne Marie Botto, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 to be with her Lord at the age of 87. She is survived by her loving husband, Phil Botto, of 68 years.

She is predecease­d by her father Jean Claude Matthews, her mother, Anna Marie Matthews, and her stepmother, Stella Matthews.

Anne Marie is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Rick Botto (Dixie) and Tony Botto (Grace), eight grandchild­ren, Julie Powell, Benjamin Botto, Jeremy Botto, Haley Rivas, Will Botto, John Spake, Alex Smythe and Jack Botto as well as thirteen great-grandchild­ren, Kira Powell, Cassidy Powell, Camille Powell, Ben Botto, Jr., Josh Botto, Cuper Botto, Vincent Shelton, Sam Rivas, Liam Rivas, Stella Rivas, Evelynne Botto, Jadelyn Botto, and Madelyn Botto. She is also dearly remembered by her nephews, Carter Davis and Steve Botto and her niece, Stephanie Martin, her great-nieces, Ace Martin and Leslie Botto Akins and great-nephews, Patrick Martin and Chris Botto.

Anne Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r. She had a heart of gold and was known to be an angel on Earth. Anne Marie was a strong woman with a gentle soul and a warm, kind smile. She was the one family and friends would go to when in need and they could always count on her to lift them up. She would often offer up her loving comfort by telling others, “this too, shall pass”. She was an excellent chef and you would often find her in the kitchen that she referred to as the “Botto’s Bar ‘n’ Grill”. During her lifetime, Anne Marie was dedicated to Jesus Christ and his teachings. She and her husband, Phil were active members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Brigid Catholic Church, and Catholic Church of the Incarnatio­n. She was President of the Madonna Circle for several years and a volunteer for many more. Anne Marie served as a Eucharisti­c Minister, as well as worked with the Cenacle Retreat, De Colores, the Alzheimer Associatio­n, and Meals on Wheels. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but she is now at peace with her Savior.

Anne Marie’s memorial will be held at the Catholic Church of the Incarnatio­n in Colliervil­le, TN on January 7, 2021 at 10:00 am. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s foundation or a charity of your choice.
