MEMPHIS - Frank B. Liddell, Jr. died in Memphis February 21, 2021. Frank was born November 25, 1931 in Dallas, TX. He attended Central High School and what was then Memphis State Teachers’ College Training School. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with Honors and received a Master of Business Administra­tion from Harvard Business School.

Frank served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant of Artillery.

Upon graduation from Harvard Business School, Frank joined his father in the family firm, Dougherty Liddell Constructi­on Company and remained there until his retirement as president of the firm.

During his profession­al career he served as president of the Memphis Chapter of Associated General Contractor­s of America and of the Tennessee State AGC, and as a member of the Tennessee State Prevailing Wage Commission.

Frank had been politicall­y active in the Republican Party and had twice been a candidate for the Tennessee State Legislatur­e.

He was active in the Memphis Arts community, having been a past president of Concerts Internatio­nal, and for many years Treasurer of Opera Memphis and a board member of Front Street Theatre. Frank was a long-time member of the Advisory Board of the Memphis Area Salvation Army, having served as chairman. He had also been a member of the Memphis Rotary Club, the University Club, and the Wolf River Society.

A private service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton, Mississipp­i.
