WGC-FEDEX St. Jude Invitational will have fans

- Mark Giannotto

The World Golf Championships-fedex St. Jude Invitational is going to look and feel a lot more like a normal golf tournament this year.

Tournament officials announced Friday that daily tickets are on sale for the general public. The 2020 WGC-FEDEX St. Jude Invitational, won by Justin Thomas, was held without ticketed spectators on the premises at TPC Southwind.

It's still unclear how many fans will be allowed at the tournament, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 2-8 and routinely draws most of the top 50 golfers in the world. The tournament press release only specified "welcoming some level of ticketed spectators back to TPC

Southwind."

Since the calendar changed to 2021, various PGA Tour events have been allowing a limited number of fans on the course.

"This early ticket-buying period will allow our loyal fans the opportunity to secure access to this worldclass event when we welcome spectators back at TPC Southwind this August,” WGC Fedex St. Jude Invitational executive director Darrell Smith said in a statement.

“With that said, we'll continue to work closely with local and state government and health officials alongside PGA TOUR Headquarters to ensure the safest environment possible for all constituents. As always, the health and safety of all associated with the tournament and the Memphis community remains our No. 1 priority, and conditions will be closely monitored as we prepare to host

Memphis' third World Golf Championships event."

Daily grounds tickets this year start at $30 and the tournament still plans to honor its youth and military ticketing options, although specific details on that are to be determined. The tournament is also offering an upgraded weekly clubhouse pass for $1,500, which includes all-inclusive food and beverage options, as well as exclusive viewing areas and patio seating.

Tickets can be purchased at www.wgcfedex.com.

This will be the third WGC-FEDEX St. Jude Invitational held in Memphis. The inaugural event in 2019 saw record crowds come out to TPC Southwind.
