New Wing Order, Old Dominick team up on delicious sauce
Hot wings and bourbon? Sounds like a winning combination to us.
New Wing Order has partnered with Old Dominick Distillery, another Memphis original, to create a Maple Bourbon sauce.
New Wing Order co-owner Cole Forrest describes the new sauce as “both rich and sweet. Maple Bourbon sauce is made with real maple syrup, hints of chipotle, and infused with the bold flavor of Old Dominick’s Huling Station Bourbon.”
He suggests using it on wings, grilled chicken and barbecue. The versatile sauce works with any dish you would normally make with barbecue or hot sauce.
Forrest said they decided to bottle the sauce after its success as one of the monthly specials.
“We always do a monthly flavor special,” Forrest said. “Our friends at Yorkshire Liquors [New Wing Order parks its food truck there every Friday] challenged us to create a bourbon sauce. It ended up being one of our top two specials of all time.”
The folks at Yorkshire Liquors introduced New Wing Order and Old Dominick Distillery.
Old Dominick Distillery thought the match would make an excellent partnership.
“Who in Memphis doesn’t love whiskey and wings?” said Clark Schifani, Old Dominick’s sales director. “We felt like this was a match made in heaven between New Wing Order and Old Dominick, but we will let you be the judge.”
“Huling Station Bourbon worked really well,” said Forrest of the flavor that now has a permanent place on New Wing Order’s menu.
How to get Maple Bourbon sauce
Bottles of the new Maple Bourbon sauce are in stores starting this week. A 16-ounce bottle retails for $11.
High Point Grocery, Oxbeau, Yorkshire Liquors, City Market (Downtown), Kirby Wines & Liquors, Kimbrough Fine Wine and Spirits and Ramon’s Meat Market are the first stores to carry the new sauce. Forrest said they hope to expand into other stores soon.
It’s also available for pickup on the New Wing Order food truck or for nationwide shipping at newwingorder.com.
New Wing Order is an award-winning food truck serving wings and oneof-a-kind dishes like Hot Wing Nachos and vegan-friendly Avocado Tacos.
New Wing Order started as a competition cooking team in 2013 by a group of hot wing enthusiasts who wanted to create perfect flavors for every appetite — mild to scorching hot, sauced or dry rubbed, local to international favorites, and everything in between.
Eventually countless hours in the test kitchen resulted in trophies on the competition circuit, including four Hot Wing Grand Championships and a slew of other awards.
After years of working in the culinary industry, team members Forrest and Jesse Mcdonald decided to open a food truck in 2018. They have shipped New Wing Order’s award-winning Memphis Buffalo sauce nationwide since 2019.
