Kerby Hunter Langford

-

KNOXVILLE, TN Kerby Hunter Langford of Knoxville, 46, formerly of Memphis, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2021 as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident in which he was the passenger. Kerby was a kind, bright, loving artist from the beginning of his life to its premature end. From the start, Kerby was the laughing, funny part of the Langford family, always imitating people and things he saw for a laugh or a smile from others. Kerby attended Presbyterian Day School in Memphis initially, where he was recognized with a Wordsmith award for his poetry. Next he attended Memphis University School before finishing his high school education at Darlington boarding school in Rome, GA. Then, Kerby enrolled at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History. During these years, Kerby wrote, painted, and also played most every musical instrument that exists, with primary focus on drums, guitar and harmonica, but also indulgences like the saxophone and the mandolin. Kerby was always an artist. He supported University of Tennessee athletics and loved baseball and the Atlanta Braves. The tragedy of his early death as well as these gifts and talents only highlight the profound sense of loss that those left behind will feel for many years. Kerby is survived by his mother, Ruth Langford, his sisters Laurie Fox of Knoxville and Susan Bradford of Raleigh, N.C. and his brother Tripp Langford of Seattle, WA, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Berry Highland West Cemetery for an 11:00am Graveside Service. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.berryfuneralhome.com for the Langford family.
