Stella Bailey Crone

Stella Bailey Crone, 84, died peacefully at her home Sunday, August 8, 2021. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Sacred Heart High School and graduated Memphis State University in 1958. While at Memphis State, she was President of Phi Mu Sorority, elected Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was a member of Tassel Honorary Society. In 1958, she married her husband of 62 years Robert Francis (Bob) and started her family. As the children got older, she entered the teaching profession. She taught Adult Education for the Memphis City Schools, various other assignments within the city schools, St. Agnes Academy, and finished her teaching career with Shelby County Schools, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Madonna Circle, Circle Arts, Holy Rosary Altar Society, Ladies of Charity, the 36 Lunch Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Otis Bailey, her brother Al Bailey and her granddaughter Noelle Marie Crone. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bob, her sister Marion of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, her son Andy Crone (Angela), daughter Linda Speer (Keith) and daughter Karen Leathers. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rob and Eason Crone, Tess Kelley, Sarah and Katie Speer, and Sam and Abby Leathers, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 12th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Canale Funeral Directors at 2700 Union Avenue Extended. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 13th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 4851 Park Avenue. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
