METS 4, Nationals 1 (G1): Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer and drove in all the Mets’ runs, Marcus Stroman took a shutout into the sixth inning and New York beat Washington in the first game of a doublehead­er.

Cardinals 7, PIRATES 6: Six St. Louis relievers combined to allow three runs in seven innings, Paul Dejong and Lars Nootbaar homered, and the Cardinals completed a three-game sweep. The Cardinals bullpen was pressed into duty after starter Wade Leblanc exited.

PHILLIES 2, Dodgers 1: Bryce Harper homered, Ian Kennedy escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning and the Phillies held off the Dodgers, ending Los Angeles’ four-game winning streak. The Dodgers were denied their first sweep in Philadelph­ia since 2012.

Athletics 17, CLEVELAND 0: Mitch Moreland homered twice, Chris Bassitt posted his Al-leading 12th win and Oakland routed Cleveland for its seventh straight victory. Matt Canha and Starling Marte each drove in three.

Nationals at METS (G2), late: Pinchhitte­r Brandon Drury delivered a tiebreakin­g single in the eighth inning and the Mets rallied from a pair of three-run deficits to defeat the Washington Nationals 8-7 on Tuesday.

Brewers at CUBS, late: Milwaukee right-hander Corbin Burnes struck out 10 straight batters, tying the major league record and leading the Brewers past the Chicago Cubs 10-0 Wednesday night. Burnes finished with a career-high 15 strikeouts.

Tigers at ORIOLES, late: Miguel Cabrera hit his 499th career home run, part of a three-hit night for the Detroit slugger that helped the Tigers hand the Baltimore Orioles their seventh straight loss, 5-2 on Wednesday.

Rays at RED SOX, late: Bobby Dalbec drove in a career-high five runs, Xander Bogaerts and Hunter Renfroe each had four RBIS and the Boston Red Sox routed the Tampa Bay Rays 20-8 Wednesday night.

Rangers at MARINERS, late: Luis Torrens hit a ninth-inning single to score the winning run, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 2-1 on Wednesday night. It was the Mariners’ major league-leading 38th one-run game, 25 of them wins.

Reds at BRAVES, late: Ozzie Albies crushed a three-run homer off Lucas Sims in the bottom of the 11th inning, lifting the Atlanta Braves to an 8-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.

Yankees at WHITE SOX, late: Rookie Bailey Ober shut out the White Sox into the sixth inning, Jorge Polanco homered and the last-place Minnesota Twins took another series from a playoff contender, beating Chicago 1-0 on Wednesday.

Blue Jays at ANGELS, late: Shohei Ohtani hit his major league-leading 38th home run this season, but the Toronto Blue Jays hit it out of the park four times to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 10-2 Wednesday night.

Padres at DIAMONDBAC­KS, late: Lewis Brinson hit two of Miami’s three home runs off rookie lefty Ryan Weathers, Sandy Alcantara shut down San Diego for seven brilliant innings and the Marlins avoided a winless road trip by beating the Padres 7-0 Wednesday.

Rockies at GIANTS, late: Kevin Gausman singled twice and pitched five uneven innings in his first start following the birth of his daughter, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbac­ks 7-2 on Wednesday.
