Here's a roundup of Week 1 games, based on information submitted to The Commercial Appeal: MUS 39, Arlington 10: The host Owls built an early lead on the strength of a pair of George Hamsley passing touchdowns. Joakim Dodson (24 yards) and Mac Owen (46) were on the receiving end of those, helping the MUS quarterback to finish with 201 yards. A 33-yard field goal by Jakob Deshields got Arlington on the scoreboard right before halftime. The teams traded long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter – the Tigers' John Davis (73 yards) and the Owls' Makhi Shaw (81). Briarcrest 58, Booker T. Washington 0:Briarcrest enjoyed a 37-0 advantage after the first quarter of play, highlighted by a pair of touchdown runs by JD Sherrod (29 and 35 yards) and a 30-yard pass play from Blake Clarkson to Caleb Donaldson. Derrick Carroll had two rushing touchdowns. Houston 49, Ridgeway 14: The Mustangs found success through the air at Halle Stadium, with the arm of Jeremiah Salem getting the job done. Salem was 9-of-13 passing with four touchdowns. Will Stegall caught three TD passes and finished with 110 receiving yards. Bartlett 22, PURE 20: The host Panthers needed overtime to salvage the victory. Terrel Neal scored first in the extra session and also ran for the successful two-point conversion. PURE quarterback Tevin Carter threw a 10yard touchdown pass to Ledarion Carpenter, but his attempt at the 2-point try fell incomplete. Marco Tyson had a pair of interceptions for Bartlett. Collierville 61, Raleigh-egypt 0: A late switch of Week 1 opponents didn't slow the Dragons' offense down one second. Originally scheduled to play Wooddale, Collierville held a more than comfortable 41-0 halftime lead. Quarterback Houston Wilhelm was the ultimate game manager, throwing for a pair of TDS and running for another. Andy Bell led a balanced Dragon rushing attack with 61 yards and a TD. Clarksville Academy 30, FACS 10: The visiting Crusaders fell short in their opener. Among the standouts for FACS was David Calderon, who had 58 rushing yards and a one-yard touchdown plunge late in the second quarter. David Baker kicked a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter. Brighton 38, St. Benedict 0: The Cardinals' home opener was a success, thanks in part to running back Braxton Sharp. Brighton led at the break, 22-0. Ensworth 40, ECS 0: The Eagles' road trip didn't go as expected. Making matters worse for ECS was the firstquarter leg injury suffered by senior running back Jaylen Greenwood. He did not return to the contest. Covington 41, Munford 8 (Thurs.): The Chargers racked up 468 of their 491 total yards of total offense on the ground en route to the road win. Jamarion Dowell had nearly half of his team's 50 carries, finishing with 202 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen

Fayne added 120 yards and one score.
